Mr. Knapp has been a successful telecommunications industry executive for over 30 years. Most recently he has served as the Chairman and CEO of ProCapital Group, LLC, a management advisory group focused on developing high-growth companies.
Previously, Mr. Knapp was a co-founder and President of Cellular Communications, Inc. (Cellular One) in 1983, the first cellular company in the U.S. to go public. After over ten years of industry-pioneering operations, Mr. Knapp facilitated the sale of Cellular One and its two international affiliates in the mid 1990′s for total proceeds of $6.0 billion.
In 1993, Mr. Knapp co-founded and was CEO of NTL, Inc. (now Virgin Media Inc.), and grew the company into what is now the largest cable and broadband provider in the UK. During his tenure with NTL the company achieved a peak market value of $59 billion.
In 1998, The Financial Times named him “Telecommunications Executive of the Year.”
Mr. Knapp earned a BA in Mathematics from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is currently a Senior Fellow in the Center for Financial Economics at The Johns Hopkins University.
Ms. Downs became a licensed Real Estate Broker in the State of Arizona in 1974 and brokered her own real estate company, First Award Real Estate, for more than 20 years. Her real estate experience in commercial building and land sales, residential sales and property management, as well as investment consultation translated well into the field of spectrum acquisitions and development.
Ms. Downs’ career in wireless began in October of 2007 when she co-founded and serves as the CEO of an Arizona company that specializes in the acquisition and development of FCC spectrum licenses.
In 2012, due to her accomplishments in the wireless industry, Ms. Downs was elected by the National Association of Professional Women as the “Professional Woman of the Year” for her outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.
Ms. Thompson is currently responsible for managing the M2M business operations infrastructure including Finance, Human Resources, IT Support, and Software/Collaboration Tools.
Prior to joining M2M Spectrum Networks, Cheryl spent 24+ years at American Express. As a senior project management professional, Cheryl oversaw domestic and global initiatives in both Operations and Technologies environments. Her scope of responsibility included both operational and technical delivery of new product launches, procedures and staffing requirements, and directing programmer resources. Ms. Thompson’s experience spanned across several divisions including merchant services, network services, plastic card issuance, prepaid products, and software implementation.
Ms. Thompson earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Westmont College in Santa Barbara, CA.
In his previous professional experience, Rob Somers was Corporate Counsel for Tosco Corporation (later Phillips Petroleum Co.), a Fortune 500 company. He supported several disciplines including marketing, real estate, procurement and franchising, providing both transactional services and litigation management. In his most recent position prior to joining M2M Spectrum Networks, Mr. Somers was General Counsel for an FCC license application services firm. Before that, Mr. Somers was a litigation associate with Wilenchik and Bartness, P.C., where he practiced business litigation, construction defect litigation, civil rights actions defense and tort litigation.
In his role as General Counsel for M2M Spectrum Networks, Mr. Somers is responsible for advising management regarding legal issues, drafting agreements, ensuring compliance with securities and telecommunications laws, and managing outside counsel.
Rob Somers earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of the Pacific, McGeorge School of Law, and was a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Arizona State University, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Finance.
Mr. Nichols leads all sales and marketing activities for M2M Spectrum Networks and is responsible for identifying and acquiring clients through multiple sales channels: direct, enterprise and the company’s Solutions Partners program.
Mr. Nichols has focused his career in start-up companies and markets. Prior to his M2M role, Mr. Nichols was the SVP/GM of OMGFast, a business unit of Cablevision. Prior to Cablevision he served as General Manager of an Arizona broadband company where he led the company to a 400% increase in monthly production. Mr. Nichols started his broadband career in 2002 with Craig McCaw as Vice President and General Manager of Clearwire. Mr. Nichols previously held senior positions with PageNet and major CLEC Carriers.
Mr. Downs provides corporate direction on spectrum strategy and implementation; network, applications and device development; strategic opportunities and partnering; and regulatory policy.
Mr. Downs oversees development of the flexible, standardized “plug and play” customer connectivity devices for M2M’s network.
Mr. Downs previously lead Research and Development for an Arizona-based wireless acquisition company, providing its clients with in-depth strategic, tactical, and technical analyses of the wireless industry. Mr. Downs proudly served six years in the United States Coast Guard, District 17 in Juneau, Alaska.
Mr. Crump leads the company’s Product and Delivery Services Division and has responsibility for the planning, directing and delivery of cutting edge IoT initiatives and solutions, as well as the underlying products/technologies to market.
Vernon joined M2M after more than 20 years of experience working in more than 9 countries across Europe, Asia, North and South America managing business and IT transformation projects for industry leading companies in the Telecom vertical.
Vernon earned his Electronic Engineering Technology degree of from DeVry Institute of Technology in Atlanta.
As Senior Vice President of the Spectrum Programs Group, Ms. Downs is responsible for aggregating licensed spectrum for the network, and leads the company’s Spectrum Partners Investment Program.
Prior to the formation of M2M Spectrum Networks, Ms. Downs served as Vice President from 2008 to 2013 for an Arizona-based company that specializes in the acquisition and development of FCC spectrum licenses. Ms. Downs was responsible for the company’s highly successful license application preparation business.
Ms. Downs formerly served in sales and management positions with Virgin Charter and Avaya.
Ms. Downs received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Arizona in 2002.
Mr. Skrygulec leads M2M’s Applications Services Division. Mr. Skrygulec specializes in Computer Software Product, Program and Project Management; System Architecture Design; Functional Requirement Analysis and Development. Previously he was founder and CEO of Avalton, Inc., a software development company specializing in Cloud/SaaS Billing & OSS Solutions for Telco operators.
Mr. Skrygulec has participated in the Engineering – Systems Design Ph.D. Program at University of New Hampshire and holds a MS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Hampshire; a MS degree in Telecommunication/Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science in Management from the Gdansk University of Technology in Poland.
Mr. Coffman is currently responsible for managing M2M network implementation including site acquisition, construction, technical support and field service. Prior to joining M2M Spectrum Networks, Randy spent 6 years at DukeNet Communications overseeing the Project Management and Equipment Engineering groups. His scope of responsibilities included overseeing the construction of fiber optics into facilities and the installation and commissioning of equipment. Prior to DukeNet, Mr. Coffman was with Mactec Development Inc. as a Market Manager overseeing the site acquisition and construction of cell sites for wireless carriers. Mr. Coffman is a management professional with over 30 years in Program/Project Management experience within the Wireless, Wireline, Fiber Optic and IT sectors. He earned an Associate in Applied Science degree and holds a General Contractor’s license in the State of Florida.
